Into the Void are described by many as the elder statesman of Christchurch’s underground rock scene. The “space metal” group produce a dark chaotic sound.

Into the Void formed in Christchurch, New Zealand in the late 80’s. Their music has been described as sounding like travelling on the top of a train going through a tunnel with headphones turned on full. The Void has continued on that train journey with the light not showing at the end of the tunnel.

Into the Void have released two self-titled albums, on Flying Nun in 1993 and Avoid Music in 2006.

The band line-up is Jason Greig (guitar), Mark Whyte (drums), Dave Imlay (bass), Paul Sutherland (gramaphone) plus occasional performances from James Grieg (guitar) and Ronnie van Hout (vocals).
